Eurochocolate Festival in Perugia, Italy

Hi, this is Jared Sullivan again.  If you like chocolate, then going to the Eurochocolate Festival in Perugia, Italy is something you definitely should put on your bucket list.

I have never seen so many types of chocolates.

Last weekend, Bruno took us to the Eurochocolate Festival.  Our boarding school is in the next town over, Assisi.

There was every type of chocolate imaginable in all different flavors.  They  had chocolate from all over the world.

There were hundreds of people.  It was a really surreal experience because of the size of the crowds.  The streets are small and the buildings aren't huge but they are tall enough that you feel like you are surrounded by people and walls.

I found out later that this is a yearly event.

It was kind of a surreal feeling being there.  With all the crowds and people, I felt like I should be at a parade or sporting event or even Disney with my family.  At the same time, the sights and smells were all different.  There were a lot of people speaking in different languages.

Chocolate Sculptures

One of the exhibits that I really thought was interesting was from Perugina chocolate.  They had a huge block of solid chocolate on a stand.  They had workers carving a sculpture out of it.

The workers all wore plastic over their clothing and had paper looking boots on their feet when they were on the stage.  They kept shaving at the chocolate, really quickly.  As they shaved the chocolate just kept falling in peels on the ground of the stage.

Chocolate is collected into small plastic bags.

Other workers on the edges of the stage were sweeping up these chocolate shavings and putting them in small green bags.  They would hand out the bags to the people who were watching.

Some of the stands had games you could play, like at a fair.  If you won, you'd get a prize.  I won a small box of Lindt chocolate.  Even if you didn't win, a lot of places were giving away samples of chocolate.

This is something I would definitely want my family to go and see.  I think they would really enjoy it.   Thanks for checking in.  Ciao  (that means bye)
